Artist Group and Annual Art Show Web Site

The Culham Trail challenge in which some of our group is presently participating, is quite unique. Not only are we painting landscapes in our individual style, but we are also promoting the kids at Erinoaks through a successful silent auction. When presented with the challenge to depict Ron Lenyk's favourite Mississauga spot, I grabbed my trusty Cannon and headed out to the trail to capture as many images as I could before the snow would cover "the interesting bits". I was captivated by the spent grasses of the season.

When looking at various images, I decided that in my painting, I wanted to breathe life into the grasses and surroundings to make the painting tell the story of vibrancy and depth. The way I started was to paint the canvas bright red, thinking that the greens and blues would be a fitting complement. The drawing was next--using some artistic license-- the composition was complete.

The exciting chapter was next! Oils!! Rich colours slowly brought depth to the painting as the layers were added.

Eventually, "Shades of Grasses" developed into my vision of an inviting, colourful depiction of a fall landscape.

No peeking!! Come to the opening on March 23 at 7:00pm and see how I did!!

Great work.  Just shared with my friends and family on Facebook.  The trail is wonderful and full of wildlife.  On my painting trip I saw a about 15 deers.
