Inspiration for the silent auction comes from the work that ErinoakKids does with the children and families from all over Mississauga and Halton region.  

The art is about inspiration from the visual impact of the trail and memories of all the landscapes walked, experiences and previously painted.

The painting starts off

on a very visceral level. There in the field observing, sketching and finally photos that act as source material back in the studio.

The process is about the fundamental composition layout and colour scheme.  Often I do a small painting to capture the essence of the painting.

Next its about the process of again sketching, underpainting and finally the oil paints. 

There is a moment when every painting takes over from the artist. The source photos and memories of walking in the landscape are replaced by the emotional impact of the colour, texture and artist's palette right here, right now and the painting takes on a life of it's own.  Areas demand attention and some primary colours shout for their complimentary colour and highlights.

The under painting is capturing the darkest darks and setting up the canvas for light.  You will not see the light unless there is dark and visa versa.
