gabby tutak The Culham Trail Challenge

The Culham Trail challenge in which some of our group is presently participating, is quite unique. Not only are we painting landscapes in our individual style, but we are also promoting the kids at Erinoaks through a successful silent auction. When presented with the challenge to depict Ron Lenyk's favourite Mississauga spot, I grabbed my trusty Cannon and headed out to the trail to capture as many images as I could before the snow would cover "the interesting bits". I was captivated by the…

Adriana Rinaldi - Artist/Member Adriana Rinaldi 2012 VIP Trail Contest

Participating in the 2012 VIP Trail Contest was a no brainer for me.  This challenge presented itself and I find it exciting because it encompasses several great aspects of this Art Group.  This includes the hunt for a great painting subject.  The ability to help a great cause, Erin Oak Kids.  And the opportunity to find a new place to paint, the David Culham Trail.  Who knew this awesome Trail existed so close by.  After painting at Visual Arts Mississauga for years, I am ashamed to say,…

Patrick McGoey Artist / Member Inspiration & ErinoakKids

Inspiration for the silent auction comes from the work that ErinoakKids does with the children and families from all over Mississauga and Halton region.

The art is about inspiration from the visual impact of the trail and memories of all the landscapes walked, experiences and previously painted.…

Springbank Artists VIP Trail Contest – Painting in Progress

The painting process for most visual artists starts with a blank canvas.

I like starting with a blank canvas. At this point there are endless possibilities. Creativity can take over and you can have a plan or not.

I am primarily a collage artist. I paint with paper. I use both paper that I have painted myself and also…

A. Linda VanWyk A. Linda VanWyk_2012 VIP Trail Contest

I have decided to participate in the Springbank Artists VIP Trail Contest. My initial reaction is YES I want to participate because I can’t resist a contest and being part of something happening and NO because it involves painting a landscape or something close to it. So what to do – Yes/No, Yes/No. Luckily my need to be part of an exciting event wins out. I’m in!

Now the hard part begins. No turning back. If you look at my paintings you will see that I never paint anything close to a…

Patrick McGoey Artist / Member Algonquin Park, treasured by Tom Thomson

Even before I started to paint I would spend hours staring at Tom Thomson's painting in galleries in Ontario and Quebec. He was a master of colour.

Most People think he was a member of the Group of Seven. He was never a member, as he died in 1917 before the Group formed. The formation of the group was in large part inspired by Tom Thomson's death.

He loved getting into the park. As an expert canoeist he would spend days finding… Continue
