HELEN JONES

I began my artistic journey by learning to paint portraits and figures in a classical style. My realistic oil paintings are done in a glazing method that builds up many thin layers of paint.

 I also work in acrylic doing landscapes and figures in a more expressive style. My focus is on surface texture, colour and line. I base my landscapes on places I have observed, and my figurative work is developed from drawings and sketches I have done from live models.

I love to explore new ideas and challenge myself through workshops and classes. I am currently a member of the Springbank Artists through Visual Arts Mississauga, Neilson Park Creative Centre and the Etobicoke Art Group.
